Project Details:
The Orphanage is a registered body working from a rented premises at Tandale Kwa Tumbo.
The organisation has procured a 3 acre plot at Vikawe, Bunju ~38kms Dar es Salaam.
Pwani Club joined a consortium of well wishers from the UK to carry out construction of an Orphanage to house 52 orphans and 5 staff. This was duly approved on 12th December by Pwani Club Board as a Signature Project. Convenor Lion Rizwan appointed to oversee and supervise all activities. The Club carried out architectural and engineering design. Construction Contract signed with Meki Engineering Limited.
Project Status:
Construction began on 15th December. The 1st Phase: Premises construction to be completed by 1st of March 2012. The 2nd phase: Purchase of furniture and equipment for the facility by 1st April 2012
The 3rd Phase: Make the Centre self reliant. This will include setting up poultry and self-subsistence farming within the plot by 31st May 2012.
Club Statement:
The Club looks forward to make the orphans feel at home through provision of modern housing and self reliance schemes that will make them independent. This will also include educational support at nearby schools. On successful commissioning, Pwani Club is planning to hold Sight First and medical Camps periodically at the Orphanage so that nearby residents of ViKawe can benefit.
The club proudly presents this project to District 411B as a fulfillment of one of its ardent goals.
