MNAZI MMOJA PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL FILTERED WATER PROJECT TO MARK AND CELEBRATE THE 50TH INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS AND 50 YEARS OF LIONISM IN TANZANIA

On 27th November 2011, Mzizima Club organised a major water project at Mnazi Mmoja Primary and Secondary Schools in Dar es Salaam. Bore wells had been revived and flushed, water pumps and tanks were provided and two filtered water dispensing units fitted to enable clean and safe water to the pupils and students of both schools.

The opening ceremony was by His Lordship, Mayor Jerry Slaa who greatly appreciated the work done by the Lions. In attendance were various government officials, teachers, parents, school children, Lions and guests.

The gathering showered praises for the project undertaken by the Mzizima Lions to provide the basic necessity of clean filtered drinking water to the school.

The reception also witnessed ngomas (traditional dances), poetry and speeches by the leaders.  

Secretary Lion Mustafa, in his address, mentioned about Mzizima Club’s activity of providing basic stationeries worth TShs 100 million to various schools. 2 schools had already received part of the donations. He further assured a filtered water project at Gongo la Mboto to cover 2,500 children in 5 schools.
