Lions Club of Dar es Salaam fraternity observed World Sight Day on 22nd October 2011 at Jangwani Secondary School. The event was organised under the auspices of Mzizima Club. The District Convenor for Sight First Lion Shanti Shah felt honoured by being able to proactively enhance the great occasion. He, however, lamented on the dismal attendance by fellow lions from other clubs. He thanked Mzizima Club to have ardently carried out the services and appreciated support of Pwani Club to have been there where the need was.
About 900 students including 80 disabled were registered for screening that commenced at 8am. Dear Lion Leaders,
Firstly , I wish to congratulate The District Convenor Lion Shanti Shah for his innitiating the joint Eye camp under the banner of the clubs in the fraternity of Dar es salaam to mark the WORLD SIGHT DAY. Sir had it not been of your able leadership and efforts this Eye camp could not have been as successful as it turnedout to be. Selecting a school to conduct eye camp whereby more than 800 students benifited for getting their eyes screened with free distribution of spectacles and medicines is worth praising.
I also wish to acknowledge the clubs for their participation in this fraternity event, it is encouraging to see the clubs in the fraternity jointly organising activities which is a mark of true lionistic spirit of fellowship and unity. I am sure more joint activities will be conducted and organized during this lionistic year. I assure all the clubs of my support at all times for any joint activities in Region A.
Above all , Lions club of Mzizima needs all the recognition for sponsoring and organizing the event under the banner of the Lions Fraternity. with expectation that other clubs will come forward with such offers .
With Lionistic congratulations
