A two-day meeting of Lions Quest organized by Lions Clubs International Foundation will be held at the New Africa Hotel in Dar es Salaam on 6th- 7th January 2012. The meeting is being sponsored by LCIF and about twenty delegates from African countries and India will participate.
The International Programs Coordinator for Lions Quest, Kelly Young was the first to arrive in Dar es Salaam. She was received by the Steering Committee of Lions Quest headed by PDG/PMCC Lion Abdul Majeed Khan. Other senior members at the airport were PDG/PMCC Lion Safderali Jaffer, 2nd Vice District Governor Lion Willy Ndesanjo and other Lions.
Past International Director Lion Dr. S.P. Amin who is spearheading Lions Quest issues in Africa will also attend along with PID Lion Manoj Shah and District Governors Lion Satish Sharma (District 411B) and D.G. Dungarwalla (District 411A).
The Lions from Dar es Salaam are acting as facilitators for the important meeting which is likely to hear reports from participating delegation from as many as 8 African countries. The participating countries are India, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Lions Quest programme, designed to teach primary and secondary school teachers basic education of moral building image and to discourage usage of drugs and harmful intoxicants particularly among juveniles and youths. The Lions Quest programme has already taken off in many countries under the umbrella of Lions Clubs and coordinated and sponsored by LCIF.
The Lions Quest Programme was started by the LCIF almost twenty six years ago. Efforts are being made to include this series of teaching materials in school curriculum.
