Letter of Appeal from Lions Club of Masaka

She is smiling. She looks healthy. But 28 year old Lion Stella Nairuba, a young bride and mother of baby twins, is anywhere near being not fine. She has been diagnosed with a life threatening heart condition - Atrial Septal Defect. Simply put, she has a hole in her heart. Her doctors at the Heart Institute (Mulago Referral Hospital – Kampala) say she urgently needs Constructive Open Heart Surgery. Fortunately, the operation can be done in Kampala. Depending on availability of funds, she will be operated in June or July 2012.One of her twin girls unfortunately has a similar diagnosis.

Lion Stella was indicted in 2008, and served the Club dutifully as Secretary in 2010-2011. The purpose of this letter is to appeal to you fellow Lions and well-wishers in our Multiple District 411 to partner with us in raising Sh13,925,000 (Thirteen million, nine hundred twenty five thousand shillings) ($5,570). This is the money quoted by the Heart Institute to be cost of the surgery. I have attached a scanned copy of the Invoice from the Heart Institute detailing a breakdown of the cost.
