DAR FLOOD VICTIMS' PLIGHT

Former tenants of houses destroyed by recent massive floods in Dar es Salaam were yesterday thrown out of temporary shelters in various school buildings in the city on government orders to pave the way for classes to resume tomorrow.

The government has offered new temporary shelters at Ubungo Maziwa, JKT Mbweni and JKT Mgulani.

Jordan Rugimbana, the Kinondoni DC said it would take two weeks to complete the first phase of evacuation to Mabwepande where 630 plots would be distributed to people. Others would wait for another two weeks for the completion of remaining plots.

About 1,000 people expected to move to Mabwepande, Kinondoni District Administrative Secretary, Bernad Patrice, observed.
