Six months of hard labour finally yielded dividends. Mzizima achieved a record collection of over TShs 75 million in this year’s Play For Sight Golf Tournament held at Dar Gymkhana on 19th of November 2011.
The Club broke all previous records and no words were enough to praise the members who realised funds of such great magnitude.
The 18 Hole Gold tournament attracted over hundred golfers who themselves also contributed to the worthy causes lions are known for.
The sponsors who come in from diverse fields like banks, insurance companies, building companies, industries, even shopkeepers and individuals were the reason for this mega success.
The tournament teed off at 9.am and the golfers competed till late in the evening. During the presentation ceremony the president of Mzizima Lion Pratish Kakkad recognised the high standards displayed during the event. District Sight First Convenor Lion Shanti Shah added colour to the proceedings.
Optometrist Fatema Dalal, daughter of a Lion was awarded a token of appreciation for her exemplary services with Mzizima Club.
Lastly the presentations concluded with the Dar Gymkhana Secretary applauding the Lions and assuring continued support in years to come.
The vote of thanks was carried out by Mzizima’s flamboyant Lion Talib Yusufali Who recognised the man behind the golf tournament success, his son Akil Yusufali - the brainwave since three years ago who determinedly led the club to such heights.
