1ML TREES IN KENYA BY 2012

A few weeks ago President Lion Win-Kun Tam had the pleasure of attending a ceremony in Nairobi, Kenya, where more than 2,000 trees were planted by Lions and representatives of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

To quote Lion Tam, "these trees are just the beginning of a new partnership between Lions and the AKDN that will result in the planting of at least one million trees in Kenya by December 2012. Think of it -- our entire worldwide goal for tree planting equaled in one nation alone!"

Lion Tam further mentioned that the activity was certainly a  cause for celebration, not only because it would provide great environmental benefits, but also because growing and nurturing those trees will provide employment opportunities for young Kenyans.

The entire ceremony was also attended by Multiple Council Chairperson Lion Shem Bageine, District Governor Lion Satish Sharma and 2nd VDG Lion Ndesanjo. Lion Satish was overjoyed with the opportunity to meet international leaders and Prince Aga Khan.
