TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY BY DAR ES SALAAM MZIZIMA CLUB

2011-2012 International President Wing-Kun Tam is challenging Lions around the world to plant one million trees this year to demonstrate the strength of our global network. Accordingly, Lions Club of Dar es Salaam Mzizima have taken the lead in tree planting activity this Lionistic Year. The Club’s program is to plant about 2000 fruit seedlings in various schools in Dar es Salaam. On 31st July 2011, members from Mzizima gathered at Temeke Municipal Council to commence this noble activity.
100 fruit seedlings (comprising of Avocado, Mango and orange) were planted at Kijichi and Bwawani Primary School compounds respectively. About 95 children and their Teachers joined hands to carry out the activity. It was agreed to award the best caretaker of these plants at the end of the Lionistic Year.
The Zone Chairperson, Lion Zahira expressed her satisfaction and was present during the entire part of the activity.  
The amount of money spent during the activity was 650,000 TShs.
6 Lions participated during the event.
6 Temeke Municipal Officers were present.
