On 8th August 2011, Lions Club of Dar es Salaam carried out orientation program of its 3 new members that also benefited the 18 club members who attended. The first part of the orientation ceremony covered Our Illustrious History, Purpose, Ethics and You which was carried out by Lion Bimal Choksi, District Officer for Retention and Orientation. Zone Chairperson Lion Zahira carried out Your Club, Your District and Your International Association while District Officer for Lions Information Lion Rizwan Qadri carried out Membership Development, Extension and Leadership.
The Activity was presided over by ZC Lion Zahira, who welcomed all members and emphasised on the need of bringing in quality members. She expressed her desire to see the District grow through induction of more members and praised Pwani Lions for making its members aware of what Lionism stood for and LCIF aspirations.
The Activity was followed by Induction ceremony that was carried out by veteran Lion of the Club, Salim Sulemanji. 3 new members namely, Jayesh Raichura, Akber Nagri and Anney Semu were duly inducted.Zone Chairperson for Zone 1, Lion Shoffiudin Babul also graced the ceremony and conveyed his warm appreciations.

I CONGRATULATE your esteem and very active club, LIONS CLUB OF DSM PWANI for being the 1st club in the Region to induct 5 new members in total from the beginning of this year (2 during Installation Night & 3 on 8.8.11). My sincere applaud goes to the President, Lion Sara Qadri as her leadership is very apparent very early in the year!
All the 5 new members as well 18 other members of pwani were present during the most well prepared Orientation Program held by senior Lions in the District. As our GMT Leader, Lion Abdul Majeed Khan says, properly oriented members will remain quality Lions and future leaders of our organisation.
It was very nice to see a veteran member of the club, Lion Salim Suleimanji in the forefront as Induction Officer and Sponsorer of 2 new members. Lion Emma's effort in sponsoring one new member is well recognised. Well done to Lion Sara for sponsoring 2 new members as well.
I request Pwani Club to keep up the good work - please close the back door and open the front door wide for Quality Members to enter and become part of the family of Lions all over the world!

Please try and bring some more new members at the envisaged Induction Ceremony to be held when the District Governor visits dar es Salaam during the forthcoming Cabinet Meeting, in mid September. The swelling number of members will prove that District Governor Lion Satish Sharma is leading the District towards the positive intended goal.
