MBARARA CLUB DURING DG LION SATISH SHARMA VISIT

On the 24th of November, Mbarara Club was honoured to host the District Governor Lion Satish Sharma. Many activities were carried out and I thought it befitting that I send you some of the sights of his visit. He mainly did the following:

• ·        participated in the town beautification programme by planting trees on the town main lane
• ·       Visited and condoled the Late Lion Gudo Ahluwalia’s family;
• ·       Held a board and advisory meeting;
• ·       Visited selected club projects;
• ·       Inducted 2 lions and 5 Leos; and
• ·       Fellowship with the club members during the banquet in his honour.

The Club’s December activity will be to give alms to the poor whilst celebrating Christmas. We also plan to carry out a de-worming exercise to benefit over 200 children and 100 adults.

INVITATION TO OPENING OF THE LIONS CLUB CHILDREN’S PARK ON 17TH DECEMBER 2011

Soroti Lion's Club received support from Youth with A Mission (Amecet) to rehabilitate the Lions Children’s Park which is now planned to be commissioned on 17 December 2011.

Youth with A mission (Amecet) is commemorating 10 years of service to the community of Teso and as gesture to give back to the people of Teso, they have dedicated resources to the Lion’s Children’s Park situated at the Old Soroti Mbale Road opposite the Soroti stadium..

The Lions Club Soroti together with Youth with A mission has organized activities to mark the day. This is therefore a request to seek your participation during the activities.

We shall be grateful for your support and cooperation.

Lions/UNICEF School-in-a-Box Program can Provide a club or district with the opportunity to address the education needs of children where schooling has been disrupted by wars, disasters and other emergency situations.  Lions, through a designated donation to Lions Clubs  International Foundation, can help to provide a "School-in-a-Box" kit with essential school supplies for an instructor and up to 40 students. Find out how your club, district or multiple district can make a donation.

DISTRICT & CLUB ASSESSMENT FOR DISTRICT 411B – NOVEMBER 2011

Dear Lions, I trust this e-mail finds you in best of your health.

Thank you so much for your unflinching support and magnanimous cooperation to elevate the membership growth from 980 (6 months ago) to 1,163.

Judging by the club Health Assessment of November 2011, we are yet to reach the required target of 1250 members so as to be recognized as a full fledge District.

The Assessment also indicates that some of our clubs have pending International Dues. This has to be cleared by 30^th December 2011.

I once again request you to recruit more quality members. Success won’t come to us; we must go to it and become an opener of doors. Have the courage and the confidence to go to it.

Finally, I appeal to all the Region, Zone Chairpersons and GMT leaders to make strenuous efforts to revive cancelled clubs under their jurisdiction.

Miseries at every moment.

Life a living hell,

No respite in this hell,

Food and Shelter a fantasy,

No Clothes over my sunken self,

Eyeing the Educated clientele.

My poor limbs have no ambitions,

My Childhood a playful taunt,
