“I Believe with Service and Satisfaction We Can achieve our Goals,” Says Lion Manish Chavda
My Dear fellow Lions
Leos and Lion Leaders,
“I
Believe with Service and Satisfaction We Can achieve our Goals”
One more Lions year
rushing towards its end, and yet another round of applause and awards for many
of us who received them at the District Convention in Entebbe ,
It is almost a year
since I took up the office of the Cabinet Secretary of District 411-B; and
believe me fellow Lions it has been one of the most exciting and challenging
year I ever had, I find it difficult to look for words expressing my experience
towards the duty to serve our society and make it a better place for humanity
to live in; live with respect and dignity which each and every one equally
deserves, I am thankful to the District Governor Lion Satish Sharma to give me
this opportunity to be of service to my fellow Lions.
Fellow Lions we all have
tried our level best during the course of the year, and many of the clubs have
achieved their set goals with maximum percentage, I from the bottom of my heart
congratulate each and every Lion for their tremendous efforts in bringing a
smile to the community and add a Star to the club.
Following the theme of
our District governor “Service and Satisfaction”; our district witnessed many
activities; among them Various programmes including Tree Planting, Orientation
seminars, Relief and Medical camps, Quest, Aid to Orphanages, water well
projects Eye Camps and many more humanitarian activities were carried out
successfully by the majority of the clubs in the District, to the secretaries
whom I thank for sending my office their club reports on time.
The start of a New
Lionistic Year is just round the corner, and therefore I call you Leaders to
prepare your selves for your New Role and step into the shoes of the current Leadership;
start planning and preparing for your new term to effectively take up the role
and surpass the achievements of the predecessors.
For preparing yourself
for the new role there is a vast opportunity available in form of Leadership
material and grooming ourselves by updating the current knowledge that we have
about Lionism from the International website, Regional leadership and training
seminars are always an added advantage once the opportunity is availed to us,
The Lion Leaders of
District 411-B, have a another great responsibility to bear; Lions we have to
start projection of the Africa Leader and International Leader for the near
future, so that we can maintain our role and importance in shaping the future
of Lionism in our home countries and Africa as whole; and in this ground work
we have to assist our Leaders, Lion Manoj Shah (PID), Lion Dr Tebebe (PDG),
Lion Dr. S.P Amin (PID) Lion Majid Khan (PDG), Lion Shem Bageine (PMCC), the
current Governors and Incoming, so that when the launching time comes we are
prepared to forward the candidature in ONE Voice.
Fellow Lions to achieve
the dream of making Africa a single Constitutional area; we have to work very
cooperatively and effectively in bringing the membership of our district to the
1250 member mark, and to bring this mark I request all the Presidents of the
clubs in Tanzania and Uganda to maximize their efforts in bringing quality
members in to their clubs.
On behalf of my family,
Lion Kala and myself I would like to once again convey our deepest sympathies
and condolences to the families of all those Lions who have lost a loved one,
We remember them in our prayers and pray to the Almighty Lord to rest
their souls in Eternal peace Amen,
I thank you all
once again for your wonderful cooperation and for the timely reporting of club
activities and MMR to the International and my office, I request you to please
give the same support and cooperation to the new District Cabinet and their
officers,
Wishing you all the
Success and Happiness,
Yours Sincerely,
Lion Manish Chavda,

YOU MADE THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE SAYS PMCC/PDG LION MAJID KHAN
TO ALL REGION & ZONE CHAIRPERSON
MY DEAR FELLOW
LIONS,
Did you know that the “LIONS” all over the
world have planted 9.7 million trees this lionistic year 2011 – 2012 and that
each single tree can absorb as much as 48 pounds of carbon dioxide each year
and produce enough oxygen to support two human beings.
Here-under, please read more from the magnificent
message sent by our International President Win – Kun Tam.
With kind regards,
LION ABDUL MAJEED KHAN
PDG / PMCC – M. D. 411 GMT – DIST. COORDINATOR - DIST. 411B
Dear Lion,
When I took office at the
international convention in Seattle last July I did not think that I could ever
be more proud to be a Lion. I was mistaken. Over the past year all that you
have accomplished to make our world a better place has inspired me and made me
prouder than ever.
I would say that it borders on
the miraculous!
- I have always believed that Lions can change the world but this year we did so literally. By planting more than 9.7 million trees we have changed the very face of and altered - for the better - the basic processes that sustain and renew all life on Earth.A single tree can absorb as much as 48 pounds of carbon dioxide each year and produce enough oxygen to support two human beings. At maturity, the trees planted by Lions will be removing more than 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide and adding enough oxygen to the atmosphere to support almost 17 million people!
- We have succeeded in keeping more members within our organization and I believe that following the My Club, My Family guidelines has helped keep more of them engaged and enthusiastic about their service to others. I have met with more than 10,000 club presidents and seen countless clubs working hard for their communities but also having fun, creating friendships and strengthening the bonds among family members.I think of Lions Clubs International as the world's biggest family and I hope that the spirit of family unity will be a defining trait of our organization for years to come. Please do all you can to make it so.
- I began my year as international
president by declaring what I believed. I believed in you and I believed
that Lions working together with passion, persistence and creativity could
achieve what others believed impossible. I leave the presidency feeling
confident that "we" believe those things, both as individual
Lions and as an organization. The successes of the past 12 months have
proved it.
It is because of your hard work,
perseverance and innovative thinking that we have made the 'impossible'
possible, and I appreciate all of it. Thank you for all you have done and for
the gifts you have given to all humanity. Let's keep up the spirit; we still
have a few more weeks to work together.
Sincerely,
Wing-Kun Tam
International President
95th Annual Convention in Busan, Korea, from June 22-26, 2012.
I take great pleasure in inviting you to the Lions Clubs International 95th Annual Convention in Busan, Korea, from June 22-26, 2012.
The magnificent port city of Busan, with its endless emerald sea, is a paradise for seafood lovers and an exciting destination where visitors can enjoy the vibrant Korean culture all in one spot. Among the must-see attractions are the marine sports beach of Haeundae, the movie district centered around Busan's International Film Festival Square, the 1300 year old Buddhist temple Beomeosa, and brilliant night views from Diamond Bridge.
Take time out and relax at the mineral spas located inside Busan Shinsegae Centum City, the world's largest department store, or enjoy unique activities such as a traditional Korean wedding ceremony or the making of kimchi, a well-loved Korean fermented cabbage dish.
LCI's convention offers a once-a-year opportunity to gather together to discuss the important topics of the day that will shape the future of our association, and to forge new friendships along the way.
I warmly invite each of you to the 95th Lions Clubs International Convention in Korea's cultural capital of Busan and look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
Joseph L. Wroblewski

STANDARD Chartered Bank Tanzania Limited has emerged overall winner of the 2012 Environmental Awards organized by Ilala Municipality.
The awarding ceremony was held at Manzese grounds in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday. The awards tend to recognize financial institutions which have greatly contributed to environmental conservation, leading by examples in commemoration of the World Environmental Day under the theme 'Green Economy: Does it include you?'.
"We at the bank acknowledge the importance of proper environmental management, that is why we came up with a number of strategies to ensure that we conserve our environment, right from our offices in terms of cutting down the use of paper and we have gone further to advise our employees to be mindful of their environment," said the Head of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department, Alelio Lowasa, .
The Kinondoni District Commissioner, Mr Jordan Rugimbana, who represented the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Said Meck Sadiki who was the guest of honour, said it was important for all staff of various Government institutions, private companies, and the citizens at large to obey environmental regulations set by the Government to ensure that our environment is taken care of.

THE CLUB HEALTH ASSESSMENT FOR MAY - 2012 BY PMCC/PDG LION ABDUL MAJID KHAN
MY DEAR LION LEADERS,
LION ABDUL MAJEED KHAN
PDG / PMCC – M. D. 411
GMT – DIST. COORDINATOR - DIST. 411B
I trust this e-mail finds you in best of your health and spirit of service to the mankind.
I am indeed overwhelmed to note a little improvement in the Club Health Assessment for our District membership from 38 clubs to 40 clubs and 1080 members to 1,120 members through May 2012, but we should not be complacented with this minor improvement of the digits. Our ultimate objective is to reach the required number of 1250 plus to be called a full fledged District, reviving all the fallen clubs to its former status, continue to retain and remain steadfast as far the membership of our clubs are concerned.
It is our firm belief that together we will strive forward to revamp our closed clubs and increase quality members to restore our past glory of the District.
With kind regards,
LION ABDUL MAJEED KHAN

MISSION H2O SAYS LION MUSTAFA
4 Lion members from Mzizima Club and several well drilling experts went on a survey mission to assess the water supply of a school in Kipawa.
Two adjoining primary schools located roughly 2 km from the airport have been without water for over five years. We were told that the schools boasting of a total of 4100 pupils were having no tap water for all this time.
We managed to provide water after flushing out the shallow well which was unused and had amassed a lot of dirt and impurities.
A decision was made to provide clean water to the schools through dispensers and piped water to the toilets also.
The team than proceeded to visit the maternity wards at the Muhimbili hospital to address a similar situation. We learnt that they had a storage of almost 55,000 litres of water at ground level which only needed a little effort by the authorities to manage effective supply to the wards.
